DODS | High CPU usage/low server fps
#1
Hello there, I have read through the forums and I think I know the solution to my dedicated server problems. First off the details
Code:
connection: is not a problem as the server is in a datacentre

Linux version 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4smp (bhcompile@hs20-bc1-4.build.redhat.com) (gcc version 4.0.2 20051125 (Red Hat 4.0.2-8))

We run one 30 man DODS, one 21 match server and a TS server. atm with no-one on the server the public server is using 99.9% of the CPU and the server FPS peaks at 250, when its only half full this peaks at 50FPS. I am right in thinking that the solution is to upgrade the kernel and then rebuild it? Also are there any other things I can do to increase server performance?

Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

On an hopefully unrelated matter our public server also "sticks" on maps, the worst one is on dod_kalt where at the end of the map the server just freezes, people can still talk to each other. I have tried a number of solutions but to no avail any help on this subject also would be appricated.

I have the exact same problem on some of my servers I'm hosting right now. I hope someone has some info. I hope it isn't a kernal update/rebuild issue.
