[solved] DODS server won't update
#1
Every other time until this last update I would kill -9 -1 the server and restart it with ./srcds_run -game dod -secure +maxplayers 25 -port 27018 -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 +ip xx.xxx.xx.xx +map dod_anzio -autoupdate

But when I try to restart it this time I get this message;

Auto detecting CPU
Using SSE2 Optimised binary.
Auto-restarting the server on crash
Updating server using Steam.
Checking bootstrapper version ...
./srcds_run: line 297: 26408 Segmentation fault      $CMD -game "$GAME"
Sun Sep 24 13:40:49 CDT 2006: Steam Update failed, ignoring.

Any ideas on what I can do? I've tried to force an update using;

./steam -command update -game "Day of Defeat Source" -dir

and I get this message;

Missing argument for parameter '-dir'

Thanks for your help,

if the steam binary is in the same dir as your srcds install just add a . so it should be -dir .

and the -game switch for updating it should be -game dods

I put the period in 2 different places and got this message.

./steam -command update -game "Day of Defeat Source" -dir.
WARNING: unrecognized parameter '-dir.'

Segmentation fault
./steam -command update -game "Day of Defeat Source" -dir .

Segmentation fault

Is there anything else I can try?

there should be a space between -dir and .

this is the exact command, copy and paste it

Code:
./steam -command update -game dods -dir .

try removing the blob files
Code:
rm -rf ~/.steam && rm *.blob
then try updating. it'll download the latest update of the steam binary (again) and ask you to rerun it.

You don't really need to screen for this.
