The post-Halloween sadness...

Does anyone else get unreasonably sad after Halloween ends? When you realize you'll have to wait another whole year for something you've been excited about for months? I know it hit me as I was packing away my decorations and throwing out the remnants of my carved pumpkins. I'm someone who doesn't mind winter and can find joy in any season but I always crash so hard after Halloween. I'm trying to keep the spooky times rolling by switching to Nightmare Before Christmas mode (a big comfort movie for me in November) but still. It makes me feel so sad when I walk past houses that were decorated so nicely now packed up and empty.

I feel this big emptiness too once all the lights go dark and the props get packed away. It hits like a weird mix of loneliness and burnout, kind of like a mini ptsd crisis from all the excitement crashing down.

I found that starting to plan next year’s haunt or sketching theme ideas on my Shudder list pulls me out of that funk. Keeps the Halloween feelings going just enough.
