Server isn't working :-(
#1
ok I followed all the directions on the Windows tutorial for srcds and I put in my default ip (192.168.1.4:27016) and nothing so then I try my REAL ip and still nothing. This also happends with the GUI Mode from Steam too.
so please somone help me because I want to make a socom 2 server with socom 2 maps that players can play on.

I'm also using a router and my friend isn't and his works fine ( HLDS ) and there is only a uplink button on my router.

It also says in the console "cannot establish connection with steam servers" but it just recently started saying that.

This is my router

EDIT
It also doesn't work for HLDS also.

192.168.1.4:27016 is your internal IP generated by your router. Click here to find out your real IP address and use that instead. If you only have one IP address and running a server at home using a DSL/Cable modem, you don't need to specify an IP address. If you want to run more than one game server, don't touch anything. It will automatically assigne you a different port. 27015, 27016, 27018, etc...

have you forwarded the ports you need for this to work? obviously no one can see your server since it's behind your router. you can also try to put your machine on the dmz if your router supports it. that way it is exposed to the internet and everything should get through.

how do you forward the ports?

you go into your routers configuration page. There is a section dedicated to port forwarding. You add the internal ip address of the box the server is running from, and the corresponding ports. This is a page that contains all the ports that need to be forwarded. Also what kind of router do you have, model number too.

@exaxxion
Im sorry but that is not correct. Even if you only have "one ip address" you still have to do the forwarding. Might have been different for you. But in most cases you do.

go to http://www.portforward.com and follow the instructions for your router, you need to forward ALL the ports listed in hexitnow's link.

type in 192.168.1.1 in yout web browser. that should be the address of your router. It will take you to the configuration page, if it asks for a pass, the username is blank, but use admin for the password. Then find the section on port forwarding.

Did you set a static network (internal ip). They have a good tutorial on that on portforward.com

You dont need to set a static ip if your dhcp server is enabled. and most linksys routers, dchp is on by default.
