ports help..(ive tried everything!)
#1
Im running SRCDS on linux, all runs well...can connect via LAN only.

Ive forwarded these ports

# Service Name Start Port End Port Server
1 fggsdfg 7002 7002 192.168.1.4[TCP]
2 sdafsda 5273 5273 192.168.1.4[TCP]
3 daads 6003 6003 192.168.1.4[TCP]
4 dcvdgv 27000 27015 192.168.1.4[UDP]
5 dfasf 27020 27020 192.168.1.4[UDP]
6 vfv 1200 1200 192.168.1.4[UDP]
7 rgsfg 27015 27015 192.168.1.4[TCP]

192.168.1.4 is the local ip of the machine running the server. Im using a wireless Netgear router [WGR614]..server machine is hardwired to the router.
Ive tried everything i can think of..been to the port website endless amount of times etc etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Big Grin

Thanks in advance,

This may seem silly, but I have never used a netgear router, but do you have to check in the circles next to the forwarded ports to enable them? I know that on my linksys, I can have ports forwarded on the setup page, but if the box next to them isn't checked, they are not enabled. Also curious what your service names are? It doesn't matter, but just curious......random letters? Anyway, sorry for not much help.

I am in the same exact position as you, my friend. I have tried everything, but something is just not letting it work. It is successfully fowarding all other services (vnc, ssh, ...etc) and it is working on my LAN. I can netstat it and see it waiting on port 27015. I've looked into and exausted every possable resource, but nothing seems to work. What distro are you using? Im on ubuntu. Not that i think that would matter, unless iptables is running or something, just wondering. If you find anything that works, let me know and I'll do the same for you, seeing as how we seem to be in the same position. The only think that seems to make any difference is when i change the bound ip address. When i make it 127.0.0.1 it will show up in favorites (where i have it listed under 192.168.1.x) and on the "Lan" tab, when i use +ip 192.168.1.x in the start string it doesn't show up in the lan tab, but is still available in my favorites section. I can't tell if its my router or my server because it doesn't look like it should be either, but its something (obviously) so im nt sure what to think.

no, that is just to select them for editing

how have you been testing your server? i found that if im testing it from a computer within the network, i can see a local game but not the "remote" game. But when i had my buddy look for it using the router's internet ip address (or your.server.org) he (and others) could connect, it was also listed in the master list, thus bringing a few hours to a pointless end. hope this helps.

Ive only been testing on a LAN as thts the only way I can access the game. Im running Gentoox(its on my Xbox Toungue), but when I ran the dedicated server program on my pc I had the same problem. Yet my mate had his up and running first time (no router). I can do everything I need to with my distro, ssh, ftp, http webmin...but its all within the local network. I think its deffinately a router problem and its becoming a joke! Ill keep tweaking with my settings but any more help would still be appreciated Big Grin

I may try and host the server connected directly to my cable modem and see if a mate can join...that way id be sure its a router problem.

edit: heres the service list...just looks like a bunch of presets.

Check IP tables on Gentoo, you may need to open ports on the box.....

scrds uses udp protocol if u use 27015 only need to forward port UDP 27015 to internal ip and done, but be sure to have sv_lan set to "0".

saludos.
