I run a srcds for CSS on a home PC (private server), 3-6 players max. The PC is dedicated to just run the game and nothing else (I connect through the LAN, and my friends connect from outside). It's pretty vanilla with the exception of SourceMM which I installed so I could run VIP Mod. Everything was working fine until I tried updating the server after the new CSS updates were released yesterday.
To update the server, I edited the update bat DOS file for CSS with my login, info, game path, password, etc. and ran it. It ran fine--no errors, just went through the list of files on the server verifying them and updating as needed (this was my first time doing this, so at least it looked like it was doing what it was supposed to). When it was done updating I restarted the server and it crashed.
I had written a small batch file to launch the server and (if it crashes)--to restart it. When I ran it, it went into a crash loop where the server would start--crash, then restart. There's nothing wrong with the batch file as far as I can tell--it's not very involved.
Any ideas why the server would crash every time it's started following an update? I mean the update items listed on the Steam Update News did not seem like so severe that it would cause a server to tank--so at this point I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong when I update using the tool. Any ideas--or guidance would be much appreciated.
