CPU Usage on Celeron
#1
Hello. I have got 2 server on different machines. One in france, second in germany.
1st one is celeron 2,6 with 1 gb ram and 15 mbps network
It is running 20 ppl, on tickrate 33 (yea sux) and all is fine.. but cpu usage is from 40 % up to 70-80 % (laggy here).

2nd server is on P4 2.0 with 1 gb ram and 15 mb network also.
But its 12 slots only..
Even if the second server is full cpu usage is 2-3 % !!!

Why there is such a difference ? Even if on the 1st server are only 12 ppl there is about 30 % cpu usage.

Is it possible that kernel have something to do ? Different versions on both machines. On 12 slots is older version.

I cant even think about setting 1st one to tick 66 Sad

The kernell got mutch to say when it commes to CPU usage. And on top of that if you are using different distrubutions this might affect this. Witch distro do you use? this is what I can imagine is avle to make the biggest effect on your servers.

Personally, I've never used a Celeron in a server, but I've heard they're terrible for hosting anything.

It is nothing wrong with hosting on a celron, I have'nt encontered any problems related to celron, I have though experienced some problems with ppl that dont have a clue of linux and uses celron on that. That might be it^^ The problem is located between the keboard and the chairToungue
