Hello,
I am setting up a CSS Server on a Windows 2003 Server (Not my Choice), and the Server is my Friend Server. So he setup up a SSH & FTP for me, so I can install it... Everything WORKS fine, but when I am readying to Close SSH, and when I do the SRCDS STOPS and the CSS Server shuts down or so.
I have no clue how to fix this on my side or what to tell my friend how to fix it (He has Admin Right, I don’t)…
Thank,
Chris

ssh.. im not familar with that.. but i know with remote desktop if you log off it will shut down the server, but if you just close the screen with the X at the top, then it doesn't (for me atleast) shut down the server.

I will be able to help you, and any steam based problems in the future. Add this AIM to your buddy list, and ask for Jonathan.
A quick note; SSH is designed for Linux, not Windows. My suggestion, purchase a professionally hosted game server. This way when you have a problem you get 24/7 technical support. Rather than you sitting there pulling out your hair.

lol, wouldn't everyone get a "profionally hosted gameserver" if they had the money? Well personally, I would rather get my own box to host my game servers. It seems many gsp's are silly fly-by-night hosting companys. I actually had one guy call him self a game server provider, and ask me how to run more then one server on a box, and then how to set the servers how to auto restart, and THEN ask me how to make a server.cfg file...
So just a word of advise to anyone searching for a GSP, be carefull. Theres tons of people that can make a catchy site, and talk like they know what there doing, but in the end, they may not know jack. (I'm not trying to say all gsps are like that, but really, you get what you pay for, and go with what you know other people have used, and liked.)

Anything you are running actively in the SSH window will be killed when you end the session.
Figure out a way to run the srcds process in the background and you should be fine. In Linux, you can use "screen" or just point all output to a file or /dev/null. I'm not sure if "screen" exists for Windows.

Lol, good responce, but I am not a 'fly by night' gsp I have been doing this for 4 years now, starting with Unreal Tournament and Halo. I respect your feedback and critism, but you're wrong on one thing. Even if you are have the money that doesn't mean your getting a professionally hosted server. But what I can tell you is. I, and my company are well worth the money. And its not that much when you consider $1.00 per slot on a monthly payment plan.
But check out our quote end quote, 'fly by night' gsp.

I did not say you were a "fly by night" gsp.. I just said theres a lot of them out there.. I will keep my comments to any specific gsp to myself, mainly because I have never rented a game server from anyone, I went with renting a dedicated box, so I knew everything would work just how I wanted it

Quote:8 MB XL Rage Graphics card for better FPS
humh? Very strange my dear GSP....
But the solution for the TS: login via remote desktop and run the servers under an account. You can run the servers with firedaemon, serverchecker or just a batch file.
