How many players can I support on a Garry's Mod server?
#1
I'm wondering how many players I can safely host for on a Garry's Mod server. I've done 60 without problem on a Minecraft server, but that's boring and I want to host a server on the ultimate sandbox instead. I don't however know if Garry's Mod requires more, less or the same amount of bandwith per player, and I don't want to set the bar too high or too low. So help me please!

I have 16GB's of RAM, and this is my connection speed:

Ask me if there's any other information you need to know.

GMod requires a bit more than minecraft. But you shouldn't start with say a 32 slot server. I would suggest starting with 16-20, then when people enjoy it and there are people regularly joining upgrade it to 32. There is no sense in making a 32 slot server when only 5 players average play it. But I'm pretty sure your pc can handle 32 slots.

Actually, the 3 ms ping and 5/5 connectivity thing made sure pretty many people joined right away, so it went 10+ players pretty fast. Haven't been as many as 30 yet, but no lag so far.

Great, good to see it's going good, just upgrade it to 32 and no worries Smile
