bz2 or normal file or first

Hello, so I have bz2 files mixed with the original files on the webserver, it's inneficient I know but I am kind of lazy and don't want to screw stuff up.

Does source(garrysmod) look for the .vtf file for example or the bz2 file first? Thanks
