Two Questions from a Linux newbie
#1
Hey!

I decided to step into the world of Linux, and I have to say I'm loving it so far. Only problem I ran to was the start server on login: I use Ubuntu 11.00 and have set up a Cs:s server, however, I am unable to get the server.sh to get executed on launch no matter what I do, It works when I doubleclick it, it has been chmodded etc.

Any ideas?

---------

How many servers would a machine run with these specs:

Pentium 4 3.0Ghz (Hyper-Threading capable)
1gb of RAM

Thanks in advance,
Arttu

if you want a css server try this

and remember chmod +x ./start.sh

and what do you use for file management?

Your start.sh looks a little bit strange to me. Try default startparameters.

./srcds_run -game cstrike -ip yourIP -port 27015 +maxplayers 12 +map de_dust2 +sv_region 3

Wich start.sh are you using? Is your gameserver online if you start it manually?

Hi, you definitely supplied too few information. What have you tried, why it doesn't work? which methods, etc, etc...
here is an example after googling for ubuntu autostarts:
http://www.linuxscrew.com/2007/08/09/autostart-programs-in-ubuntu/

If you want it to be more professional you might want to use init.d I never used ubuntu but know that init.d is very different from debian there, so you will have to investigate for guides.
