why do you run with fps_max 396?

try fps_max 33.3 and leave sv_maxupdaterate/sv_maxcmdrate alone (i.e. unset or > 33.3).

but, I am not sure if that helps you. what else is running on that machine? did you try any linux optimizations?

you are running on a vps? that will be the problem then. you are even lucky it does not run much worse. vpses are not for hosting game servers, rent a real dedicated root server (or a stand-alone game server).

no its a dedicated server my old one was a vps

i7 - 920 quad core
8GB ddr3 - 1600 mem
2x 250gb hdd

my old one was a vps with 3ghz limit or something

I never made my own kernel look like I need a self made kernel now >.<
