I'm hosting a dods server from home with a 30mb down 25 up link and my server is pretty much full 20-32 players almost 24/7 and every so often everyone in the server (including me) will get between 1-10 % packet loss shown in net graph which causes the ingame voip to cut out and crack. it usually resolves itself but it's still very annoying. any ideas what it could be? i am hosting and playing at the same time but the CPU usage is never above 90% (most of the time it's below 45%). i disabled jumbo frames on the NIC properties which seemed to help a lot but every now and then it still comes back
this is the ip: 96.254.179.168:27015
specs:
amd phenom2 x4 965
12 GB ddr3 1600
windows 7 64 bit
sv_minrate 40000
sv_maxrate 50000
sv_minupdaterate 60
sv_mincmdrate 60
sv_maxcmdrate 66
sv_maxupdaterate 66
fps_max 0 //same problem with 66

My first guess is the QoS function in the router.

Are you on a shared line? Like many other people on the same line? Maybe they are using their line more frequent.. I don't know. Still sounds like a router issue

Well, it's your home connection, so everything could download stuff everytime.
Running a homeserver without QoS is stupid btw. Someone else uses the connection and tadaaa your server is lagging.

there's only one other computer in the house which is on wireless and it's never on during the time of this packet loss. QOS doesn't make sense because while the loss is occuring, i can still do a speedtest and get my full speed (minus whatever the server is using)

Home connections we're just never designed to be hosting things, especially things that rely on every little packet to get there and back.

Well you shouldnt host and play on the same computer. There have been waaay to many threads on "omg why doesn't this work" and the solution (or some other thing) was that the person was running the server on the machine he played on.
