Hello there, hardware change

I am upgrading to another server host now, because the one i use now has lack of cpu and ram etc. But is it possible to just move the harddrive from this server into a new pc? then i dont have to set up databases etc Toungue

yes of course (unless the new server cannot support that HDD for some reason). but maybe you will not be able to boot the OS without tweaking. in many cases it works, but sometimes it doesn't. the kernel could be too old or - if you have a custom kernel - it lacks some kernel module. also network configuration might need manual update (hint: try removing /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules if your network device gets named eth1 instead of eth0). with some work it should be possible virtually all the time to get it running.
