SRCDS Steam group

Again on Reserved Slots!!
#1
Ok i may be a dufas for not wanting to use any admin or sorcemods on my dedicated server.

However i wish to be able now to open up my server to the public,
and still have it so my family and friends are "guarenteed " a slot.
even if my server reads full at the time i wish them to be able to join.
(thus maybe eliminating bots, and allowing for achievements in a more
robust way)

i have most of their steam client id's and what i am looking for is a way
to give those id's a preferred advantage to claiming a slot, even at the
expense of kicking a high ping rate player.

I would even post in the MOTD that this server has preferred slots and you
may be displaced in favor of a preferred player.

So i am looking for a cvar or configure file where i could list my collected
steam id's and have them given preference. If this exists in the SRCDS
software it would be handy to be given the info.

Thanks in advance for the info. Big Grin

very good info. . . . . however i was hopeful to do this without using sourcemod, i am still learning how to run my server and i am taking it one step at a time.

Now to answer your Q: as to what game currently it is it is TF2.

Now i do switch out ocassionaly to HL2Big GrinM
or CSS and have even delved into AVP

each has its own quirks and differances.

Thanks for your Input!!

Well, srcds.exe by default doesn't have reserved slot capabilities.

However you could use "sv_visiblemaxplayers #" to make it appear as if you have so many user slots available. However this method plays tricks on users who try to join through the server list or the favorites when the server is "full" . I believe it only works if you connect via console.

Other than that, Install an administrator modification such as sourcemod or mani...
