[Resolved] Starting srcds instances
#1
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help?
When connecting to our servers users got the warning message:
The server version is older than yours (something like this)
So I killed all instances ./stop surf etc
Ran hldsupdatetool.bin and it was successful.
I am new to linux.

What command would I type in now to restore/start the servers.
All are installed in their own directories etc.
AIM-SRCDS
SURF-SRCDS
BREAKFLOOR-SRCDS
D2PUB-SRCDS
GUNGAME-SRCDS
KNIVEZ-SRCDS
ZE-SRCDS
PRISON-SRCDS

Any help would be much appreciated.
There are no active sockets atm
screen -li returns nothing.

I don't want to start new servers just start the existing ones that I stopped.

Thanks

how do you start theese servers?

if you start them with screen you can stop and start any server that you want.

try command: screen -r --- Reattach to a detached screen process.
then use CTRL +C or quit to stop the server

well, how did you start them in the first place? you have to specify some options at start up we cannot possibly know (because they are individual for each setup). it's something like:

./srcds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate +ip <IP> -port <PORT>

and replace <IP> and <PORT> with the server IP and port.

Sorry for being vague.

Firstly I have updated the hldsupdatetool.bin.

Then typed

./steam -command update -game cstrike -dir /home/geclan/SURF-SRCDS

did this for all directories

/AIM-SRCDS
/PRISON-SRCDS
/ZE-SRCDS
etc

posted this:

Checking/Installing 'Counter-Strike Base Content' version 35

Checking/Installing 'Linux Server Engine' version 55

Checking/Installing 'Half-Life Base Content' version 12

I did stop all SRCDS instances first.

Now I have restarted all the servers using ./restart_fast script.

The servers come online but when I try to connect, I get the error:

The server you are trying to connect to is running an older version of the game.

Anyone come across this problem before.

Initially it looks as though the servers are not updating although all the files downloaded in each instance.

Am I missing something, or just being a noob?
