SRCDS Steam group


CS 1.6 Servers problem on linux

HI!

well, i have a Xeon i7 server with 12gib ram and with a 10mb dedicated unmetered conection.


Im hosting a CS 1.6 server with all of their values at default
Now, the problem is that when you join the game, the game haves like micro-stuttering (the player gets freezed a milisecond).

Its not a Network problem (i run SRCDS servers and they run perfect), also yi have 15ms of ping and NO LOSS and NO CHOKE.
Its not a problem of the server (even if the cs server is the only online and with 1 player inside it happens),
and its not a problem of my client, because i happens to all the people who plays on the server.


so... is this a linux problem or what?

btw, im using Debian 5.0.4 AMD64 edition.

Are you running any stats addons, steam bans, SQL logging of the sort?

any kernel optimizations? some tend to make the timing (=fps) very fragile for hlds but not for srcds. did you try measureing the fps with the fpsmeter?

nope

also, im running the server without ANY plugin

and no again. Debian is totally default, i havent modified anything on its kernel.

the default debian kernel might not be optimal... give use a measurement with the fps meter please!

I added a howto at BEs Wiki for HL1 Kernel. You should try that one out.
Also you could post the output of "ps faux" Maybe we can identify a process that is the cause
