PMs in this forum
#1
As there is no matching board for this, I post it here (it is certainly not off-topic...).

I quite often get private messages from people who have disabled receiving PMs. that is annoying because I cannot answer them then. Can you (the forum admins) either disable sending PMs while the checkbox "Receive private messages from other users." is disabled or somehow make answering to PMs is always possible? Alternatively you can disable that checkbox completely or give me the privileges to send everybody PMs Toungue

Thanks!

that would be bad... unfortunately I don't know this forum software, so I can't give any hints. but maybe you can find some setting in the admin panel? phpBB has tons of settings of this kind :-)

Just checked it out. About 1000 users have disabled the 'receive PM' option. Part of the problem may be the box is present at the registration form and people are afraid of receiving spam I guess. I've been thinking of redesigning the registration page earlier, as 'short and simple' registration forms are hawt, but there are more important things to do.

I can't see any reason not to 'force enable' it on everyone and remove the option, as by default MyBB doesn't forward PMs to your mail account. If you don't like PMs don't read them, simple as that.
