Problems -

Basically, I got the server up and running just now, but its only running 33tick.

Im looking to make the server 100tick for mix's / scrims.

Also looking to run the server from my other pc and leave the other pc running the server on without a monitor + keyboard.

Would someone be so kind to show me / link me a guide on how to do this please?

The PC im currently using as my gaming PC is running windows 7, and the server is running on Windows XP SP3.

For some reason, I can not forward the ports for steam servers.

Also, My brother can connect to the server 'Home network' but my other RL friend's can't they said it just comes up saying Server not responding / Retrys like 10 times.

Any idea's please guys?

Kind regards

Wesley

You need to configure port forwarding on your router and give your friends your EXTERNAL IP.

Thank you for the reply Mooga, Would it be possible to run me through this?

As I did attempt to portforward, and setup a static IP. But it caused everything to loose connection.

And I couldnt connect anymore to things like Internet / Vent and MSN and so on.

Your help would be great.

Kind regards

Wesley
Update :

I forgot to say, When im trying to exec CFG's on the sever Direct from the SERVER and console its self,

I get this error message in the console.

Unable to connect to remote server (0.0.0.0:0).

But I can exec the CFG's from the other machine, the machine thats actually in CSS via the ingame console using the command

rcon_password 'then my password'
rcon exec mr15.cfg

Any idea's?

An easy way to do it, is set the server in the dmz zone in your router. Although it is unsecure, yet so is port forwarding. Simply go into your routers configuration via web browser, and look for options such as Port Forwarding, Wan, or just simply click on all the links and look for the keywords "Port Forwarding" "DMZ Host". And enter the INTERNAL IP to enable those. If using ports, I always port forward ports 27000-27020 UDP/TCP, it prevents any misconfiguration, etc. Once done, be sure SRCDS is allowed through your firewall on the computer hosting the server.

Where can I find my INTERNAL IP and also my EXTERNAL IP please guys?

Internal:
Open up a command line (Win+R --> type in: cmd --> Press OK)
type in ipconfig

External: http://whatismyip.org/

Thanks guys,

How would I go about controlling the server from another computer? As currently using my 32" HD to play CSS and its killing my eyes.

Ahaha Smile

Also, I added -tickrate 100 into the command to boot the server but the tickrate never changed any idea?

Kind regards

You can control the server via hlsw or in game via the rcon commands.
Also, since your server in Windows, RDP works wonders.

Indeed, I think im going to go with RDP tbh.

It seems alot more practical for what im trying to do.

Atleast that way I can actually place folders / edit the server that way.

Right. Also.

How would I go about with running the server at 100 tick because it don't seem to work for some reason.

Basically my current command line is.

C:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike -tickrate 100 +fps_max 600 +maxplayers 11 +exec MR15.cfg +map de_dust2

But for some reason this isnt making the server 100 tick, Its just sitting at 33 still....

any idea's ?

I ... am not sure why you place such significance on the tickrate. You know that an extraneously high tickrate offers no benefits other than avoiding the pitfalls of lower tickrates leading to latency?

In either event you can raise the tickrate as high as you want, that just sets the limit the game imposes. You're still going to only be able to run as fast as your computer and associated network can run.

[edit]: You may also want to try setting the CVAR sv_maxupdaterate to 100

It sounds like your tickrate issue is because of your rate settings in your server.cfg. Go into your server.cfg file and change it to this( or add it ). You could also alter the values to your liking.

Code:
sv_minrate 10000
sv_maxrate 30000
sv_mincmdrate 30
sv_maxcmdrate 100
sv_minupdaterate 30
sv_maxupdaterate 100
