People crash my server
#1
Hi, Ived been searching a way to avoid people crashing my server.

I have tried CRASHBLOCK, the ESL ANTI DDOS plugin and zBlock.

None work to avoid people crashing my server.

How do they crash it?

They load a config without putting RCON command , the server doesnt ban them, it just goes down.

btw, an other question,

how many css 900-1000fps server do you think i can host on:

Intel Quad Core Xeon X3210/3220
4GB RAM

is your server up-to-date? there have been some fixes by valve regarding similar issues recently, IIRC.

first, don't ask two very different questions in one thread.
second, use the search function or in this case simply look if similar threads are currently active. this question is asked very often.

Look for updates of all and the other plugins too.

Not soo much, because of the low ram and low mhz. but its depends on every system we cant give you 100% answer. you can normally host 1 gs each cpu.

4GB RAM isn't low... a server usually takes 200-300 MB (depending on plugins etc).
but even if we would know the exact system we couldn't tell you a good answer. it highly depends on your quality demands and on how the servers are used. I would say, anything between one single server (maximum quality demands) and ~15 servers (limit of available RAM) could be a correct answer. Generally I recommend running 1-2 servers per core, depending on the quality you want to achieve.

more ram is even better :-) thats why i wrote 4gb is low. normally the most guys with thats machine want to host a lot of gs > and thats why is too low :-)

no. either you have enough ram or you don't. for game servers there is no advantage in having more ram. (e.g. large data bases are a different story)
