SRCDS Steam group

[Resolved] SRCDS Starts Server, but Unable to Connect
#1
I followed this guide to set up a CSS and this guide to setup a TF2 server.

I have these ports open (all individual):

Quote:[UDP] 1200 (used for Steam's Friends service)
[UDP] 27000 to 27015 (so that means all ports in between too)
[TCP] 27030 to 27039 (idem)
=> these are all Steam related ports

[UDP] 27015 and 27020 (default DS port, also used for HLTV)
[TCP] 27015 (you want to forward this for RCON access)
=> these ports are used by the dedicated server itself

The SRCDS starts up and connects to the master servers, but I cannot connect to my internal IP or my external IP, and my friends cannot get on from my external.

I am not running both at the same time of course, but it sounds like that, I did both because I couldn't get CSS to work so I tried TF2, but same results.

Any ideas?

Disable the windows firewall.
Also, show us a screen shot of your port forwarding.

I forgot about the windows firewall, I'm sure that is on, because I never turned it on or off, so its still at default. I'll try that as soon as I get off work.

The screenshot of port forwarding will be hard because I'm using an Airport Extreme and each port pops up in its own window. But I checked to make sure I set the UDP and TCP correct per port and that the port is forwarding to my server's internal IP.

Thanks!

Oh yeah! It completely was Windows Firewall! So that being said, I have it turned off. Any recommendation on a good firewall to run that is better than Windows Firewall that will allow the game servers to still run?

Leave it on, and add exceptions to the srcds.exe program.
Looking for a game server? Visit fullfrag.com and pick one up as low as $2.50 / mo!
