server stability
#1
Here are the specs of the server that is on my lan: P4 2ghz 1gb ram ddr

Debian 5

I can't achieve 1000fps with the following kernel
2.6.31.6-rt19 with some other enhancements. I am assuming that my p4 may be limiting it...

The issue I am having is the stability: I have it relatively stable at 900fps with a 1-2 fps drop here and there. Every 5-10 seconds atleast 1 drop, down to 300 happens. Does anyone recommend anything to prevent that 1 drop that happens every 5-10 seconds?

Also, is this normal:

When I connect to the server and when a round restarts: the tick will jump down to 80 and work its way up to 101....

The registry is good, and the tick stays at 101 with a few exceptions.

he is using 32 bit at the moment and when it comes to the main server it will be using 64-bit. Will this make the difference of fps problem he is having going wth 64 over 32?

there are differenctes between 32 and 64 bits w.r.t. to fps stability... but also the chipset etc. can have a great influence, generally it's not possible to use a different system for the kernel optimizations than the one the server should run on.

but: did you try everything I wrote in the trouble shooting section of my howto (see my signature)?

yes i believe he did go through all of that. We actually did something else as well and now get 1500+ fps of his p4 haha

that's easily possible e.g. with the lib I posted in my wiki... but that doesn't make the sever any better :-)
