Linux srcds installation problem.

I followed the guides posted around the net step for step, but when i run the update using:

./steam -command update -game hl2mp -dir ~/srcds

It just goes to the updater, then stops and does nothing, it doesn't download anything even though it's the second run (first run updated steam itself), and now it won't download the game or anything, it just sits there. Anyone know what gives? I can possibly post logs later, but right now I'm not able to access the machine.

That's exactly what I type and exactly what happens... As in, nothing after that.

Running Ubuntu linux, most recent version.
