kernel test > experience?
#1
Hello,

i tried the new kernel 2.6.32.1 with tickless/hres on debian 64bit. Have someone experience with this combination? is that good for srcds:css?

what does shifting means? a kernel is shifting? i saw it in the jiffies.
does userhz (param.h) any effect? if you turn on tickless?

sometimes i saw the process switching from cpu0 to e.g. cpu2 > between that the FPS drops. if you turn on tickless > you dont have these problem?

I'm running kernel 2.6.31.6-rt19 with tickless enabled, debian lenny 64bit - it runs very smoothly with stable 1000FPS as far as I can see.

Intel Quad 4x2833 MhZ | 2x6 MB L2 Cache | 8 GB DDR2 RAM
OS Debian 32 Bit
running: MetaMod:Source v1.7.1, SourceMod v1.2.4 (Arround 61 Plugins), HlstatsX
kernel: 2.6.32 vanilla

I know the CPU usage is very high. Up to 24 players the FPS are stable at 993 at 40% CPU usage. More than 24 players increase the CPU usage horribly....and after 70% the FPS drops crazy.

any ideas ? i dont want to change the gameserver > is there a posibility to decrease the cpu load?

cpu load is crap, especially the one that is displayed in the stats command. ignore it. optimize for stable fps, not for low cpu load. it really doesn't help you.
