I heard it's taboo to run both of them on the same box? Any real facts to back this up?

Upon trying to run a CS 1.6 server I got this.
$ Auto detecting CPU Using Pentium II Optimised binary. Auto-restarting the server on crash Could not locate steam binary:./steam, ignoring. Console initialized. scandir failed:/home/zincs/./valve/SAVE scandir failed:/home/zincs/./platform/SAVE Protocol version 48 Exe version 1.1.2.6/Stdio (cstrike) Exe build: 15:58:06 Jun 15 2009 (4617) STEAM Auth Server couldn't exec language.cfg Server IP address 69.39.237.162:27015 scandir failed:/home/zincs/./valve/SAVE scandir failed:/home/zincs/./platform/SAVE [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to update local steamclient. Continuing with current version anyway. Floating point exception wtf?

normally hlds and scrds disturb each other, dont host it on the same system.
11-30-2009, 06:06 PM
Can I get any explanation on that, and also what is causing the error above?
11-30-2009, 06:27 PM
you don't get any errors from running hlds and srcds on the same box at the same time. they simply don't run smooth, especially srcds will have lags. your error must be caused by something else. but with this few information nobody can help you...

BehaartesEtwas > thats right.

That's all the info it gave me.
The Os I run is Ubuntu 64 bit 9.04. Proc: i7 920 2.6ghz RAM: 6GB DDR3 Command Line: nice -n -12 ./hlds_run -game cstrike +ip 69.39.237.162 +port 27015 +maxplayers 12 +sys_ticrate 0 -pingboost 3 +map de_dust2 +servercfgfile server.cfg -autoupdate No mods of any kinda, vanilla server

+sys_ticrate 0 > dont force tickrate to "0". normally you should take 2500 for pb3. but it depents of the kernel and its configuration.
12-02-2009, 12:29 PM
Is that what is causing the crash?
12-02-2009, 04:26 PM
oh sry > no > its for better fps ^^
but: BehaartesEtwas told you: "but with this few information nobody can help you..." we need more information about the mistake, startline....run debug Mode > put in your startline "-debug" then start the server again and write the output (debug.log) here. -peter
