Trying to run a TF2 server on Vista 32. I use to run one through steam a few months ago with no problems at all, then it just suddenly stopped working.
What I've tried so far...
First running it from steam. I would verify the integrity of TF2 and the TF2 DS. Also defraged the gcf's. Still get the error "Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specific procedure could not be found."
So I tried completely uninstalling/reinstalling steam and downloading just TF2 and the TF2 DS. Verify the integrity, start it...same problem.
Next I download hldsupdatetool, install a standalone version of the TF2 DS. Once installed I run it with -verify_all a couple more times to make sure i have everything. Looks good. Run srcds with all the normal parameters for a tf2 game, "srcds.exe Entry Point Not Found The Procedure entry point CreateSimpleThread could not be located in the dynamic link libaray tier0.dll. Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specific procedure could not be found."
Ahhhhh I then lose my mind after wasting half my Sunday on this problem.
Any ideas? Like I said, it used to run fine through Steam, then just magically stopped working. I'm starting to think there's something missing in Vista that's causing all this.
Thanks
