upgrade to vbulletin
#1
I would love to see srcds upgraded to vbulletin, along with vbseo which would help a ton with regards to traffic.

imo, vbulletin > mybb well almost everything is better then mybb.

I hate vBulletin!

And if we did that, all stats, posts, ranks etc would be lost.

MyBB is the best imo. - we just need to upgrade.
#5
And we can't upgrade because noone has ftp access

I don't see the need to

vBulletin is good, but if you are changing it is a bit of a hassle

The thought has crossed my mind, but MyBB has grown a lot in the meantime. It scales really well when it has to and the plugin engine is advanced.

On top of that, I really dislike VBSeo. It has (imho) done incredibly dumb things in the past such as

- Leaving 'archive pages' linked on the forum index, leading to duplicate content
- Adding hundreds of tiny links to the footer, each linking to a forum making it spammy

I am really thinking of adding some SEO related stuff though, I might put keywords in the topic URLs for example. As soon as the site is ready, a decent link hierarchy will be possible too.

yes, you need to prase the top urls as right now it's taking a big hit. Example: top is called how to run a game server should prase to http://forums.srcds.com/how-to-run-a-game-server/1 etc

Helps big time.
