This can not be answered until you tell us how much dedicated bandwidth you'll have.
btw, what OS?

What about 16 man servers on a
Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz 800FSB 1Mb Cache 64+
1Gb RAM
120Gb HDD
on the same 100 mbps connection
Many thanks, trying to setup a dedi without having to pay for it all.

Hmm I think about 3-4 for the 16 man server. Also will leave some overhead for file transfer and ect.

cpu usage shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially on higher end boxes. The last steam update, imo, significantly reduced cpu usage.
The amount of bandwidth that you are getting is quite sufficient as well. It would appear than that your limiting factor would be your ram if anything.
I have no experience with windows srcds, so i don't know what kind of background crap windows runs, etc. But If I had those specs on my box with that kind of bandwidth, I am sure I could get at least 4 servers set up on it

What is your upload speed? Your download speed would also help.

you're probably located on a 100mbps port, how much bandwidth do you get a month? 2000GB/mo would be about 13-15mbps (1.8MB/sec)

Can i ask, whilst were on the same topic...
How many 20 slot CSS servers would my:
Dual Xeon EM64 2.8Ghz;
2GB DDR 400Mhz, ECC Registered;
160GB SATA, 7200 RPM (I think).
With:
100Mbps uplink to the gigabit backbone of the uk;
Unlimited Gaming Bandwidth;
1:1 contention on bandwidth.
My technitions tell me they will hold 5 really easily (100 slots).
How many do you think it wil hold whilst still being smooth?
I will run Linux.
Eigher Fedora, SUSE, or debian
