I am running a few servers across quite a few games; CSS TF2 and DODS.. The problem is that the servers are based on a 9x.x.x.x IP address and it seems to be bringing a lot of Germans and other non UK countries, don't get me wrong I am not trying to be racist but I think that the way that the steam browser displays the servers to people is custom to the IP.
For instance, if I press refresh then quickly press stop I will only see 8x.x.x.x Ip's listed, HOW IS THAT FAIR?
Are there any ways around this? Would assigning a subdomain to the server get passed this problem?
It is rather annoying to not be able to attract UK players to our UK servers, the language barrier is rather annoying and it also doesn't help our recruitment.

There are plugins which can limit access by country.
You can try that?

You might live near a Game Server companies server, where many IP's are used that are together. Steam to my knowlege does not limit access by country on default.

Well it is 100% German players connecting to our CSS servers, we have a wide player base for our TF2 servers but not CSS.

Steam server browser is based on client IP address. For example if your server IP address is 99.x.x.x, then players with IP starting with 99.x.x.x will see the server first. It's pretty good logic to find close low-ping servers fast for players.
In your case I recommed that you install "countryfilter" plugin to block German users. You could also try to look at how German users' IP addresses look like and block their ranges. For example if they have 91.x.x.x and UK users have 99x.x.x, then add ban for 91.0.0.0.
