Hello, I have a QuadCore Xeon Box, and for some reason my TF2 server (2fort, 32 slot) is only using one core! Because of this, the server is currently at 96% CPU Usage, and I was wondering if there was a way I could spread it out so that one of my other cores could pick it up so the lag isn't as bad for players.
Code:
CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
96.00 83158.98 170065.09 2432 2 80.98 28

SRCDS is only single threaded so it can only suppourt 1 core. I hope the new engine with l4d2 will be multithreaded

Dont look at the CPU usage @ rcon stats. Use top in linux.

@matte563: It's just as bad w/ top/htop
Is there a launchoption to disable hyperthreading?

When you run top, you need to look at the cpu usage on the top of the top
Cpu(s): 8.3%us, 8.5%sy, 0.0%ni, 83.2%id,
Should be something like that

Okay, so now I get this:
Code:
Tasks: 139 total, 3 running, 136 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu0 : 97.7%us, 1.3%sy, 0.0%ni, 0.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Cpu1 : 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.3%id, 0.0%wa, 0.3%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Cpu2 : 4.3%us, 1.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 94.4%id, 0.0%wa, 0.3%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Cpu3 : 1.3%us, 1.6%sy, 0.0%ni, 96.8%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Cpu4 : 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Cpu5 : 91.0%us, 0.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 7.3%id, 0.0%wa, 0.3%hi, 0.7%si, 0.0%st
Cpu6 : 6.7%us, 1.0%sy, 0.0%ni, 92.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st
Cpu7 : 2.2%us, 1.5%sy, 0.0%ni, 96.3%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Also, I have a pyton script running to track my rcon stats, even though it isnt as good as top.. but I was wondering what the "Users" column meant.
The main reason why I made this thread was because I just upgraded to a Dual Xeon 5050 server, 3.0ghz. When I was running a e7400 I wasn't having any real lag problems, I figured upgrading the server would make them even better than they were before, but that obviously totally got screwed up.
If someone could message me on steam, or something like that..that would be really helpful because all this is giving me a huge headache and I feel like I am losing some of my lifespan, it's been like 3 days straight of trying to config these lil buggers and troubleshoot the horrible CPU usage..
Code:
Dustbowl : CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
95.20 72012.52 187937.67 1534 11 98.53 24
2Fort : CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
99.90 95456.00 167233.02 550 0 16.06 32
NoCrit : CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
8.75 1169.52 3393.74 21 0 246.18 6
Payload : CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
5.75 0.00 0.00 1527 3 246.31 6
