Hi all,
Running a lan soon, I just would like to know if it is possible to cache steam content before or at the lan to prevent stress on internet connection when users update there install, if they have not done so already.
Is this legal with steam? and if so will the steam content cache very well? Has anyone tried?
Thanks in advance.

No its not. You will need to make sure the games are updated before the LAN party, or just use an internet connection at the party for updates.

The general rule for LANs is that you are responsible for updating your steam games before coming to the LAN. Make sure they know.

Many large LANs don't have a WAN connection. It might also make sense to have local copies of game patches and announce which version of each game will be played before the lan.
