What do you guys think of the new windows server edition? If you had a choice between that and windows 2003, what would you go for and why?
I hear 2008 uses a lot more memory, what sort of numbers are we talking when it is idle?

Agreed. I love windows server 2008. The bad side is it is built on the same platform as Vista, so it does use more resources than Server 2003, but If you have the resources available, I would choose Windows Server 2008. Also another advantage is running 1000fps servers as well.

It does catch a lot of RAM, I have 16GB in my server and with no HLDS running with WMP running it uses 22% so 3.5GB of RAM but its really not a big deal since it runs so well and HLDS doesnt take a ton of RAM.
So far I have really loved it, its finally what Win Server should be, more like linux but with a nice GUI.

If you would like to host servers over 512fps, go for the 2008. 2003 can't run 1000FPS at all. I would prefer the web edition, as it only contains what you need, and doesn't use so much of your computers resource
