Is there any way to improve the FPS of a server without improving the hardware of the PC it's on? The rig I've got right now is pretty sad with only 256mb of RAM and a 1.8GHZ Celeron, but it starts lagging once I get up to 7-8 people.
And random, but would it possibly help to overclock this processor?

Hosting servers on a celeron is just not going to happen, this is why your server is lagging and has bad FPS.
Go on ebay and get a Pentium 4 for like £10 - £20. That will hold a lot more slots and have stable FPS.

What's your cpu usage at? And bandwidth specs?

Ah man, are pentium 4's compatible with celeron boards?
Um, when I get around 5 people it goes to about 100% usage lol, but as I said the lag doesn't get noticable until I've got about 8 people (server's open to 14 because I tried to fit in as many people as possible for the scout update lol, however it's going to be smaller). But my bandwidth is 100MBPS and I've got 60GB limit =P

lmao I know, I know, it's not meant to be a huge server xD.
Just looking for a bit of performance increase.
As I suggested, would overclocking even be worth it?

No, not at all. It's a celeron lol. Best advice is to get another server, or rent from a gsp lol.

well you have one more option. Lower the tickrate and fps and/or lower the slots. Only option.

adding -tickate 33 to the startup line, and +fps_max 300, and if that still dont work, well you know what i said before lol.
