Rename the MS-DOS window for SRCDS
#1
Ok I like life to be simple, so I have all my nice SRCDS cmd prompts open.

But all of there titles are "Source Dedicated Server", and to make life even easer to have it "John Does Server".

Any Help thanks in advance

in mine when i boot my server it says "Team Fortress" i think it depends on the game your playing not sure renaming the window would be possible without an extra program it would be worth checking the steam site for a command line var ... otherwise i dont think it can be done

have you tried googling for an app to change the window text of other apps there may be one already available

I dont think it's possible. Orange box engine will title the window with the server name. The old EP1 engine leaves the title as "Source Dedicated Server" (as you said).

Computer, why not use firedaemon and set them as a service and you can choose a name that way. Or get a control panel. . . one or the other.

Well, I dont like running it as a service because you cannot see the console, the srcds guardian wont work because the name of the srcds window will still be srcds. Also firedaemon crashed my server 5 times in one day...

If you need to see the console just turn logging on

Logging does not log whats happening as its starting up, also logfiles only save on mapchange so you cant get the most recent files.

I've been using FireDaemon for my servers (not only CS:S) for over a year now and it works flawlessly.
Logging DOES log what's happening as it's starting up!
