[Resolved] FTP Server Fails
#1
Hi. I made a FileZilla Server to use for sv_downloadurl (fastdl) on my Counter-Strike: Source server. I followed these 3 guides.

Guide 1
Guide 2
Guide 3

I can start my FileZilla Server and create users and edit settings etc. I can connect to it with my account with FileZilla Client and do everything. My friend can also connect with his account with FileZilla Client but he can't download any files :S and his account have all access. And i created a domain name for my server at Dyndns.com But when i use my FileZilla Server for my Counter-Strike: Source Server people can't download the files from my server. They get the error "Missing Map" and that is because my FileZilla Server won't allow them to download any files. And i know my domain name works cus if i type it in the web browser it finds it but the site is totaly white and it should be but if i type my url like this "http://myurl.com/cstrike/maps/ze_2012beta7.bsp" (Not my real url just an example) it should download the file but it's just white... I think the problem is that my FileZilla Server don't allow anyone to download anything from my server... Can anyone help me so everyone can download stuff from my server plz. Ty. (I have 100 Mbit/s Fiber no router and my firewall is off and i have no antivirus software running.)

Your not showing enough information about your server. Is it windows? Is it behind a router? are your ports forwarded? is it opened in windows firewall? is the service actually running. Are the users configured properly? What version of windows are you running? ect.

SRCDS doesn't support Fast DL via FTP natively. You have to run a HTTP server.

Please do not PM me for server related help
fqdn Wrote:if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected. that's the 2 sentence explanation.

How did you get that from what he was asking? Toungue I though it might have been something like that but his question is just one big block of text with some sentences that don't make sense...

1. Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
2. No Router have 100 Mbit/s Fiber.
3. Goto 2.
4. My firewall is off.
5. Yes it is running. It starts automaticly with Windows.
6. I don't know if they are configured properly but it works for me but not for anyone els.
7. Goto 1.
8. Thats it.

You will need Apache2 or Lighttpd to run fastdownload. Filezilla is not a HTTP processor, however a FTP server Smile

Recommend: WAMP or XAMPP for Windows, as it is easier and your good to go.

Yes but you will still need to put the files on the site, and give the correct read permissions :-)
