The engine is still the same - Source - and this is why there should be a way around. There are source games that run on tick 100.

I said L4D2 is locked to 30fps. That has not a piece of cake to do with anything else(eg CSS). CSS is locked to 100tickrate. If you change the fps to like 60, you will have 60tickrate.
