simply wrong. modern cpus do not need high clockspeeds to be fast. since intel abandoned netburst by introducing the "core" architecture the cpu clock is no longer a hint for the speed of the cpu (as it was already before with amd cpus).
a single (!) core of my (not very recent) core duo (without the 2!) laptop at 1.77 GHz easily outperforms a Pentium 4 with 3 GHz.
