Hi All!
I'm looking at purchasing a 1U server and co-locating it, and have a couple of questions.
The spec I'm looking at:
Dual Xeon 2.8Ghz
2Gb RAM
10,000 RPM drives
To run:
24 slot TF2
3x 12 - 14 slot HL2DM
Would this hardware be capable of this? Not sure how to calculate how much cpu is needed...
Ideally I would like to run a bit of webhosting on the side, just for a couple of sites. Can sv_downloadurl redirection run on the same box as the game servers? Or would I need a second IP and NIC for that?
Regarding co-location, I've noticed that packages tend to include a power requirement in Amps, typically 0.5 - 1A in the ones I've been looking at. Again, would this be sufficient to power the server in question? And does anyone know of any good UK based co-location on offer? About the best I've come across is Rapidswitch (3000GB per/m, 0.5A power allocation) so far.
