L4D HLServer RCON not working
I've setup a Left 4 Dead sever in my basement on the LAN. I want to play with friends outside the LAN, so I changed the port from 27015 to 27016 using this perimeter in the target:
C:\HLServer\l4d\srcds.exe -console -autoupdate -game left4dead +ip “” +hostport 27016 +map l4d_hospital01_apartment.bsp

The server runs fine, and we can connect, but the "RCON" commands do not work:

Does the RCON use a different port?
Should I change the server back to the default port? If so, I need to change the port on the computer I play the game on (and of course forward that port to my computer on the router). How would I change the game port on my computer?

Here's a snapshot of the server console:

And here's my "Server.cfg":
hostname // Server Name
rcon_password "*********" //Set remote control password
hostport 27016
sv_search_key **********
sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0
mp_disable_autokick 0 //Prevents a userid from being auto-kicked
sv_allow_wait_command 0 //Allow or disallow the wait command on clients connected to this server.
sv_alltalk 0 //Players can hear all other players, no team restrictions
sv_clearhinthistory 0 //Clear memory of server side hints displayed to the player.

sv_lan 0 //Server is a lan server ( no heartbeat, no authentication, no non-class C addresses )
sv_region 0 //Region Codes: 0 - US East coast, 1 - US West coast, 2 - South America, 3 - Europe
//Server Rates
sv_maxcmdrate 100 //(If sv_mincmdrate is greater than 0), this sets the maximum value for cl_cmdrate.
//Fix to get your server onto the master lists

im assuming your connected to your Lan server via a different computer from witch the server isnt running on?

try turning the firewall off for 2 minutes (its not gona kill you) and connect to the server and try again and try rcon_address ip:port (this would be the servers ip)

if that fails to work check you have 27015 to 27025 open as UDP and TCP in your router, if you have one.

if that dont work im out ^^

btw the quotes arnt needed in the command line for the ip try +ip

srcds.exe -console -autoupdate -game left4dead +ip +hostport 27016 +map l4d_hospital01_apartment
this will most likly fix your problem. if your Lan IP is then i believe this is the problem :)

and you are using No-Nat? a Static IP from your ISP?
if you dont have a Static IP dont bind the IP remove +ip
your gateway address will forward your server to the internets

save your self hassal finding your IP all the time get your self a Free Dynamic DNS from alias for your ip and use the program to update your ip.

then you can create a lobby and use
sv_cheats 1
Start Game
and any one in the Lobby will connect to your server.
btw sv_cheats 1 wont carry over to the server.
I know this might come as a tad late...
(yes i'm also new in these forums :-))

the screenshot of your "cannot connect to" from the console shows an IP : but anywhere else you write it says

you might want to look more into this.

I've had the similar problems, and adding

-ip 192.168.x.x -port 27015 did the trick for me

in the console i'm writing
connect 192.168.x.x:27015

just fill out the x.x with what matches to your IP :-)
I've bureaucracy a Left 4 Dead bisect in my basement on the LAN. I wish to play with accompany alfresco the LAN, so I afflicted the anchorage from 27015 to 27016 application this ambit in the target:

C:\HLServer\l4d\srcds.exe -console -autoupdate -game left4dead +ip “” +hostport 27016 +map l4d_hospital01_apartment.bsp
