Griffinrun: "Servers 20 times more accurate than others"
Griffinrun Wrote:In the world of Counter-Strike servers, the biggest complaint that many professional CS players have is that too many servers discard or alter the trajectory of up to 40% of the bullets that get fired. That's 2 out of every 5 bullets that you fire! In a real-time game where every bullet and millisecond counts, this is completely unacceptable!
Now when you and your clan play on a GriffinRUN Full Bullet Registration server, you can rest assure that when you fire a shot the server will track that bullet with 20 times more accuracy than that of a default CS server!

To me this sounds like total nonsense. They don't have the Source Dedicated Server source code and could only do some renicing and kernel optimizations (perhaps some cvars too) but thats about it. I find this highly misleading as they are pretending they recoded the entire server software and optimized it. Any opinions on this Ad?
I agree with you. 20 times seems kinda far fetched. I mean, what can they do? Offer good ping? Well that would depend on the location of the server compared to where the renters are playing from. fps_max 100 instead of 300? Well that would only be 3 times better if using simple logic, besides, I'm pretty sure there are alot of high end servers out there that run in fps_max 1000. Whats left? Tickrate? Pumping it up from the default 33 to 100? Again thats only 3 times better; and again there are probably alot of servers out there that use tickrate 100.

Oh wait. Is that for CS 1.6 and not CS:S?

If you click on 'order' it will take you to the order page, where CS 1.6 is checked in the list of available games, so my guess is that they are talking about a CS 1.6 server.

I've seen this ad a while ago, but I didn't believe it. I don't think that 'optimalisations' like that are practically unpossible.
May the Source be with you...

Darn you guys are right it's 1.6. I guess they advertise with the same stuff for Source though.
That's advertising hype from my view but with prices they charge they better supply me with some magic bullets as well.

Unfortunately there's allot of advertising hype with GSP's. The best way to find out is ask someone that actually uses the servers, then compare it with some other companies.
Renting a server from the most expensive GSP out there doesn't mean that you will be getting the best quality server or the best technical support response either.

I've seen GSP's claim to have "the fastest servers in the world" etc. I wonder what testing methods they used to compare their servers to the rest in the world to know they have the fastest servers.

The best GSP choice is one that has a good solid network, does not overload servers and you also want friendly support staff that responds quickly.

Long ago I rented a server from Art of War Central who at that time was one of the biggest GSP's around and one of the most expensive.
Our monthly bill was $120 for one game server.

Our server crashed and needed to be restarted. We contacted the support and they wouldn't restart it because I was not the primary person on the account. Our clan leader was gone for the weekend.
I asked them "You know this is an AOW server and you can see it's down, why dont you restart it ?"
But they refused because our clan leader rented it.

So after 3 days of our server being down, when the clan leader got back we cancelled our service with them. Toungue

Sorry for my rambling lol..
I would be pretty annoyed if some random person was able to phone up and have my game-server rebooted.

Security in mind. Gaming Servers
Licensed Ventrilo Host - AA Honor Provider - Great Service & Prices
I got a server rebooted with just a root password at Ezzi. I wasn't the primary person either, yet support wanted to assist me. (I said I was a system operator of the box and the other person the financial guy)

If there are clear signs a server is failing, I would assist that person for sure.
some question, i have a server with griffinrun, proregister...
i get this with stats
17:32:36 stats
17:32:36 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players
7.50 0.00 0.00 531 0 250.06 0

usualy high fps is 500-1000, high fps = better bullet registration? or i am wrong?
