Serious Partners!

I've been not so active on the fourm lately cus i've been sceaming. I am now at the point where I'm looking for a serious Partner for my upcomming GSP. With the help and advice from ppl on the fourm and my own knowalge I've put to a bissness plan into effect, crunched the numbers liked what I saw and ended up here.

As of this moment I have One server (intel core 2 2.66, 2 gigs).
Planing on geting more real soon.

I myself live in NY, USA. but planning to have server locations around the country and if my bissness plan gose into effect like I planed arround the world. (I'm not dreaming big, my bissness plan takes pace over the corse of about 8 years < Long Term Dedication :-D)

I have just enough money to keep my head above the water but I've coverd most of the expences. I have rented a shop (small but for my use its fine.) Ran a dedicated Verizon Fiber Line (Biss. FiOS), and I have one server wich I have been tweaking with for some time. I have a website planed out and ready for the Internet.

What I'm looking for is some one not affraid to take chances, and gamble alittle (It will be a gamble because there is no 100% this will work) but I have all ready "gambled" about six grand. Also someone that dosen't mind shareing the workload, someone who has knolage of how to run/work SRCDS in the Windows Enviroment.

Please PM me if Intrested and we will work a % out of what you will get (please alow time to recive payment because its gunna need us to "cuddle" it at the begining [a GSP is just like a baby])

RE: Serious Partners!

I have always wanted to start a GSP.....but I really dont know enough SRCSD yet. And no offense, I really doubt you do. I mean this in the best way possible but you registered 2 months ago. Unless you have years of experience, you should not run a hosting company. Like you also cant run a GSP from a shop with buisness FIOS. I dont care if you have 1,000000000 GB of upload, you need to be in a datacenter. It's great you made a buisness plan but you seriously should cut your loses and sell that server.

On a side note, I live in NJ so you and me could make a great partner, jk Wink

RE: Serious Partners!

Does part of your FIOS contract give you multiple STATIC IP addresses?
Because if they don't give you static IPs it's game over.

RE: Serious Partners!

Also 1 dedicated line won't do much good either, you'd need at least a dedicated line from 2 different providers to guarantee uptime, since when you only have 1 you're pretty much screwed if it goes down.

That's not even taking bandwidth into account.

Like Spartan said, there is NO real option running a company from a house/shop/whatever. You HAVE to be in a datacenter to keep the cost real and to have available services etc. which I'm sure you won't have in anythign other than a datacenter.

RE: Serious Partners!

Question 1: FiOS dose give me multiple staic IPs
Question 2: Drocona I'm way ahead of you, when I brought the shop I brought an old computer shop in-town that got put out of biss., about 2 months befor it tanked the owner had a T1 line run in and I will be useing BOTH, some servers conected to FiOS and some to the T1 line.

Also please note: The basement of the shop is out-fitted as a data center, I paid the owner extra to leave all rack-mount stands and every thing else down there. It also has Dedicated Central Air-Conditioning for the servers

RE: Serious Partners!

Not sure what you will be doing with the T1 really, it's 1.544mbps both ways which will hold a max of 12 slots at 66 tickrate.
How about the FiOS bandwidth?

I hope you are ahead of me on that one also...

RE: Serious Partners!

T1 will hold absoultely nothing. There is no way around it, if you want to start a GSP (which you shouldnt) you have to colocate. If you dont, you will fail quickly. And no way thats even close to a datacenter. Do you have rendundant power systems, plugged into two different grids? Security? Fire prevention?

RE: Serious Partners!

Do you have a full time staff? If you are running your own data center, you need someone to be there at all times in case of problems. You should also have spare hardware encase of failure.

RE: Serious Partners!

Drocona: I am ahead of you, but alittle behind also. I had no idea T1 only held that much. My bissness plan states as we grow more dedicated lines will be run. But it looks like I'm gunna have to do that sooner then I thaught. No Biggie

Spartenfrog: We dont have a power system pluged into two grids. all servers will be conected to 30 min UPS's, after 10 min of being on the UPS back up gererators will be turned on. Sercurity: Camreras with "night-vision" accesible from my house. Fire Protection: I do know there is some measures in place just not sure what.

Mooga: I will have full time staf and I live 2 blooks away from the place. We will have sear servers with copyed hard drives at my house for emergincys.

We do not own the shop yet, weve just been talking with the owner and planing it out

RE: Serious Partners!

colocrossing.com Have a location right in new york so it could save you money by not shipping it and since a real GSP runs it (velocity servers) you know it is good.
Btw you completely butchered my name Wink
