SRCDS Steam group

Debian 64 Tickrate 100 problem
Hi all,
I have a big problem because I start my CSS Server with the tickrate 100 option, but when there are two men ingame the IN Tickrate slows down to 80 and when there are more than five men it slows down to 50, too...
My startup line is:

screen -A -m -d -S css-00 ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike -tickrate 100 -pingboost 2 +map de_dust2 +ip +port 27016 +maxplayers 12 -autoupdate

My kernel is: 2.6.18-5-amd64 ...
Please could you help me ? I' m in trouble with the men who use my servers for this problem Sad

Check your server side fps, I would bet it's not going over about 125. Low server side fps will effect the tick. There seems to be problem running on 64-bit kernels and getting higher server fps, at least that is my experience. It would be better to go with a 32-bit kernel.

Also, I believe pingboost was not implemented into srcds so that setting shouldn't have any effect, just FYI.

I'd like to ask you a last thing: when i reinstall my os in 32 bit have I to recompile the kernel to set the timer or to patch some parts of the kernel ?

Yes, you'll have to recompile for 1000Hz timer and I'm sure there's other changes others would suggest here.
