BlobRegistry illegal instruction on installation

I had posted on another thread how i was unable to download maps but it got resolved by replacing motherboard, so i thought, motherboard was running my amd athlonxp 2400+ processor at 1500mhz, well i found out my PSU was only 300 watt w 15amp on +12v side which wasn't enough power, i installed new PSU 400 w on +12v side is now 20amp. and through this whole process i had to reinstall debian linux again due to a kernal crash.
My question is why is srcds and hldsupdatetool.bin and./steam giving me this error.

I apologize if there is a post on this but i couldn't find it. If there is one point me to right direction and I thank you.

in another thread regarding the same problem we came to the conclusion that valve requries now sse2 support to run steam and srcds. your cpu only has sse, that seems no longer to be enough. sorry, I guess you will have to buy a new cpu as well... (that athlon xp is probably too slow to run a decent server in any case)

Do you know when the last update happened because not even two weeks ago it was fine, it installed fine and ran fine.?

The update was sometime in February. I've emailed linux@valvesoftware.com to see when to alleged fix will be coming, but I'm still waiting for a response.
If you want, I can PM you when (and if) I get a response.

Also, it seems that if you already have it installed, it will continue to work (in some cases!).

Thanks for all the info and it is unfortunate that i formatted computer due to the kernel panic (crash) so now i can't get it the way it was before.

Keep me posted on any new info. if i find a way to get it started again i'll post what i did.

I had tried installing one last time recently and it installed correctly.

it installs under orangebox dir and has to srcds_run and srcds_linux

please.. Can you tell me, how i can instal source server under procesor without sse2 support? Thank you man.
