Could someone update this thread plz?
It's very useful but some pieces are not 100% correct...
Also, tickrate has been removed, maybe add the Tickrate Enabler to the guide or something?
Why don't I just do it myself?
Because I'm a newbie.

simple update: no longer possible or necessary for cs:s. all cs:s servers run by itself at tick 66.

there are hacks, but it is highly recommended to keep your hands off them... they will make the server worse.

Valve said that with Orangebox, 66 tick gets the job done a lot better than 100 tick. It's basically like shoving food down a babies mouth, it can still be fed healthfully without overdoing it.

right, css has a fixed tickrate of 66, dods and tf2 not. but using tick 66 is strongly recommended also on those games.

When discussing **high tickrate** and **SRCDS rate settings**, the goal is usually to achieve the best possible balance between server performance and a smooth gameplay experience. A higher tickrate allows the server to process game updates more frequently, which can improve responsiveness, but it also places greater demands on the CPU, network bandwidth, and overall system resources.
Finding the right configuration depends on the hardware available and the number of players connected. Regular testing, performance monitoring, and keeping the server software updated are all essential steps for maintaining stability while minimising latency and ensuring fair gameplay.

Ultimately, there is no universal "perfect" SRCDS configuration. The most effective setup is one that delivers consistent performance, reliable network communication, and an enjoyable experience for players without overloading the server's resources.
