Looking for a Dedicated Server Host
#1
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent dedicated server host in the Chicago area.

I'm looking for something reliable that would be able to handle a 24-32 slot TF2 server along with a couple of L4D servers, and most importantly has the bandwidth to keep those servers full without huge overage fees.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there!

I can't remember but I think raidedserver.com should be good, I don't now much about chicago cause I live in Denmark Smile
Also layersoft should be quite good. (Can't remember if it is .com or what it is)
You can ask the owner of raidedserver.com but he don't like people asking for a lower price, as I understood it. He is a member of srcds.com

There are a handful of companies around the forums. Be warned that Chicago is expensive Sad

Please do not PM me for server related help

Yea I saw raidedservers.com last night, I was actually quite excited by them until I noticed that their offerings in Chicago are.. limited to say the least.

Any other suggestions?

I would say raidedservers.com i have used them and they are really good... And you dont need a server host in chicago, ohio or dallas are good as well unless you like live in chicago or around there then i would get that..

Our community is primarily based out of the northeast so Dallas is out of the question. I looked at what's available in Columbus Ohio but wasn't terribly impressed.

Perhaps the real question is.. how much processing power / ram / bandwidth would I need to run my desired game servers? (1 TF2 and maybe 3 L4D servers).

you should be good for ohio... the Q9300 server should work well for those 4 servers.

I'd highly recommend http://www.gigenet.com , especially for Chicago.
Take a look at their bargain basement, or keep an eye on their specials page.. they usually have some excellent deals and they won't let you down.
