Moving server from Windows to Linux?

Hi again.

I currently have a small TF2 server running on my laptop (with WinXP). I am about to build a proper server, which will be running some flavour of Linux. And nwo for my question:
Can I move all the game content files (the orangebox directory) from my Windows installation to Linux, in order to avoid having to download everything again?

RE: Moving server from Windows to Linux?

Copy it over and then run a -verify_all
That MIGHT work...

that's the 2 sentence explanation.

Thanks. I will try it as soon as I get the server assembled.

If you are running any mods, you might need to switch from the windows tot he linux plugin.

I am not to sure if that will work. I haven't messed with the linux version of srcds too much (I do mostly webhosting and stuff) but windows whole binary, dll, and executable system is completely different. The materials and stuff will be the same, but all of the actual server files will be different. Copying the whole thing over and running -verify_all should work, but you will end up with a lot of extra files.

Unfortunately I never got around to trying it. I had a few network issues on my lan, so in the end it was easier just to download everything all over again.
But thanks anyway.
