Built-in Steam Ded client works, console version doesn't

So here's my dilemma: The console version of my TF2 ded server won't connect to the master server or is able to connect with the external IP, but the built-in version (the green one where you have to click OK to start the server) works fine! All my ports are forwarded fine (I use DD-WDT on a Linksys and forward 27000-27040 to the internal IP on the server) and I have tried everything I could find on these forums to solve it to no avail. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if you need any more information.

Nick

can you post a screen shot of the issue?

if you've seen the any of the matrix movies, a game server is not all that different. it runs a version of the game that handles the entire world for each client connected.

that's the 2 sentence explanation.

The first screenshot is of the two servers running (I only did this to make the SS easier). When I try to run the console version by itself, no one can connect to it from the external IP, but I can connect it from the internal IP. I have tried setting sv_lan 0 but that doesn't do anything. The second SS is of my port forwarding.

Are both running at the same time? If so, do you have different ports specified?

Whats your command line for the console version.. Because it doesn't have a map loaded. In that console screen right there if you typed in
map pl_goldrush

It would connect to the master servers, and work perfectly Wink

I am such an idiot. That worked. I put in "map pl_goldrush" in the command line, but it never loaded a map.
