RE: FPS drop

you never answered my question.

how is the cpu usage on that one core being used for that server?

RE: FPS drop

Oh sorry, didn't see your post.

Erm, its fine. The funny thing is it happens across all servers.

I have all the servers set to different cores too.

RE: FPS drop

it doesn't really matter, I mean it does to an extent, but if any core is being maxed out, all servers will feel it. So really usage on the server as a whole is irrelevant. Just make sure any one core isn't spiking up to 100%. Obviously the server on that one core will feel it the worst, but they will all feel it.

Them core2quads are decent machines (we have a couple), but I would watch that zombie server on core1. everything else it should be able to handle without an issue.

-edit-also honestly, I would run all of those server servers with a fps_max of 300. Thats what I run on all of my servers. As long as the fps is higher than the tickrate, it should be fine. I am not sure if all of them are 500fps, but you mention the match on is. so I figured I would throw that in

RE: FPS drop

The only server running at anything higher than 250 is the match which is runnning at 500fps.

Zombie is set to 100 fps. Is there anything I can log the CPU usuage with so I can refer back to it later? I might not be catching it spiking.

RE: FPS drop

This seems to happen worse on our DM too.

We have it running at 250FPS (24 slot @ 66 tick) and the fps drops about 50fps....

RE: FPS drop

I've had my TF2 server drop to 5FPS when CPU was under 20%... any ideas?

that's the 2 sentence explanation.

WTF?

Does this happen in Linux? Or it is Windows being cool?

RE: FPS drop

66 tick.

The tick is reeeally stable, it never goes below 60 while the server is full.

However, I was watching the FPS today on the DM and the FPS was around 240 - 260 all the time which isn't too bad....

Also, the registration of the bullets is pretty dire when it gets full.

RE: FPS drop

I have noticed kind of this same thing on some of our boxes. Mostly our dual harpertowns. CPU usage will be ~20% tops on all 8 cores, but fps will start dropping on an individual server when it gets full. And not even all the servers on that box do it. Just certain ones.. Other boxes are rock solid even spiking at 50% CPU usage. Anymore I just blame windows for that. Not to sure how, but I don't know what else it would be Wink
