RE: Serious Partners!
Hi Helper, Hi All,
Well I am quite impressed to see that you are starting a GSP business "from scratch" in your own place. You got balls to do that and you are lucky 'cause that is an option that is not possible initially (or maybe not at all) for some of us. You guys in the US have probably a much more open market that allows you to start such an aventure and I wish you will succeed as setting up your own datacenter is quite of a thrilling challenge but must be very very intresting. Yet, I also think it is a wise decision of yours to plan a long-term turnover and it is an excellent idea to start with a simple game so you can really get full benefit of all this. I would do the same in your place, if that may encorage you and give som help.
I am trying to setup a series of posts to help myself and the others in understanding and discovering how each and everyone imagines and sets up their own GSP business and I would really appreciate if you could join and share your knowledge. Just give it a try and if you don't like it let it be ^^. Here are the links, hope to see you there:

I will differently look into that kaine, but i don't like shareing my biz model with anyone not on board with me but i'll take a peak. If i were to set up my own data center (or buy the on i've been talking about) its only cus of the financial problem in the US

RE: Serious Partners!
ComputerHelper, I thought I would share a little with you. Having delt with the gaming industry for some time and recently helped build up a GSP.
In regards to colocation vs. business internet: Theres no comparison really. Aside of redundancy, and fail over protection. What makes a great game server or rather, a great game server company? Thats low latency, high rate servers. With home or business connections you are generally far away from backbones, and being distant even with a fios connection causes latency. And in the gaming industry, latency=bad, if you haven't found that out yet.. its time to tip your hat and try to recover with your assets. Anyways thats one of the many features about datacenters is 10gige fiber connections directly to backbones, and then you get to the redundancy, and fail over protection, and back up generators and etc. So bottom line if you don't at least co-locate, your setting yourself up for failure. Now, as for building a datacenter, that would be VERY expensive.. To do it right anyways. Buying is cheaper, but starting out would give you way too much overhead. I can't name any, but there are fairly large GSP's that still rent dedicated servers for their boxes, but just pay the large set up fee to keep monthly overheads low.
As for colocation hosts, I have to do a little plug for my company. http://www.ubiquityservers.com , which is a sister company to darkstar would be able to work with you on colocation. We host many GSP's of fairly decent size. Of course for privacy reasons I can't name any of them. They do host all of DarkStars servers. We offer colocation in New York, and you would be able to drop it off right to Zach, and he would get it racked up for ya. If your interested give sales a call, they will be able to help you out. Especially once you start growing we will work with you, and we have locations in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Seattle. So you will be able to get a decent spread over the states. Anyways, pm me if you have any questions.
Sorry about the plug, but he asked

RE: Serious Partners!
We utilize mzima bandwidth that peers with savvis, level3, and over 450 other providers. For more information about our network view http://www.ubiquityservers.com/about/network.php . We will soon also be utilizing Internap bandwidth in all locations, so that will increase our peers.
Sorry I was trying to find an exact list of all the peers, but I wasn't able to locate one, but its quite a few And thats at all locations as well.
