i saw this posted somweher but never actually understood what they meant, so i treid it, basically all you have to do is open windows media player and it boost your fps, on my windows server 2003 machine running srcds standalone, i was getting 67-72 fps, once i open media player i get 157-170 fps...in your srcds console slide all the way up to the top and in green youll see you fps...hth

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
And u also dont need it running after opening it once. Plus if u add +fps_max 600 u prolly could get up to around atleast 400 FPS. On my old windows SRCDS i ran 512 fps constantly.

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
yes it pauses the text, not freezes the game, just click inside console to return it to normal, and when i close my wmp, my fps drops to 67, so looks like i need to have it open, but i will try fps_max

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
fps_max 701 + WMP (mimized) = 512 fps.
Can also be done with any other eggdrop program (srcds fps boost for instance). I prefere the WMP option.

Thats crazy you guys have to keep it open. I only have to open it once, and as long as I dont shut my comp down it keeps it in the optimized state.

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
SRCDS FPS boost is probably your best bet. With +maxfps 600, I get most of my servers running at 512FPS without any issues. With higher CPU load , it will drop but if you got a decent server (Mind: CPU) then it shouldnt be a problem. Plus, with all the graphics and stuff in Windows Media Player, won't it use more memory? (Never really tried)

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
What exactly does this program do? What does it speed up exactly? Ive run it, and it works, just not sure what 512.3 FPS means.

RE: Media Player +srcds=boost in fps
FPS = Frames per Second. It's tells you how many times per second the CPU "thinks".
Also did you notice how old this thread is?
Sorry I just have to correct you there. FPS = Frames per second yes, but what it is is how many times the picture is shown on your screen.
e.g: Films you see in the cinema generally run at 24 FPS same goes with UK TV (hence the reason you get black lines across a CRT TV when you try to record it with a camera)
In SRCDS the FPS only really shows the average fps the users can expect to get whilst playing
It doesnt sow how many times the CPU thinks at all...
The higher the FPS though the smoother the gameplay will be
